Wealth inequality in the UK
‘Britain is becoming more divided as Town Hall funding cuts hit the poorer areas hardest, two new studies reveal today.
Deprived areas have lost an average of £100 more per person than the richest thanks to the Government’s austerity measures, one report found.
Councils in poor parts of the country have seen their spending slashed by 21.4% compared to 15.8% for the wealthy ones, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) said.
The growing divide was confirmed by the town hall spending.’
