Divisions are a speciality of the ruling elite.
In my home town I see social divisions of the norm, such as the local Labour councillors and the Tory councillors, new immigrants and the more settled immigrants v the locals, the poor and unemployed v the working poor, the housed and the homeless, social housing tenants and homeowners and so it goes on.
Divide and conquer is as old as the hills but it works.
